Where to ride in the sun
Southern Spain, Portugal's Algarve, Sicily, Greece, and Morocco are perennial favourites. These destinations offer warm, dry riding conditions for the majority of the year — perfect for riders who want guaranteed sunshine on their trip.
Winter sun: riding when Europe is parked
The real magic of sunny-climate touring is the calendar it unlocks. When the Alps are under snow and northern Europe is de-icing visors, Andalusia holds mild riding weather and the Canary Islands sit at 18–24°C — a genuine twelve-month season four hours from most of Europe. December to February departures to the Canaries are peak season for exactly this reason, and our month-by-month seasons guide maps where the good weather lives across the whole year.
Riding in the heat
Hot-weather touring requires preparation: ventilated gear, hydration packs, and earlier starts to avoid the midday heat. Most operators plan routes with this in mind, including shade stops and cool overnight towns.
Best time to go
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures for riding. Midsummer in southern Europe can push 40°C, so planning around the shoulder seasons is recommended — or escape midwinter entirely with the Canaries and southern Andalusia.
